According to TrialSite News citing the Hindustan Times, Uttar Pradesh is nearly Covid-free, due to the use of the highly controversial drug, Ivermectin.
Though the state of over 230 million people had a huge spike of infections in April, Uttar Pradesh shows only 175 people with the virus as of September 13.
Findings from Monash University in Bangladesh showing that Ivermectin inhibits SARS-CoV-2 in a lab cell culture influenced state officials to try Ivermectin as a remedy for the virus.
The Indian Express cited Vikssendu Agrawal, Uttar Pradesh’s State Surveillance Officer who declared, “Uttar Pradesh was the first state in the country to introduce large-scale prophylactic and therapeutic use of Ivermectin. In May-June 2020, a team at Agra, led by Dr. Anshul Pareek, administered Ivermectin to all RRT team members in the district on an experimental basis. It was observed that none of them developed Covid-19 despite being in daily contact with patients who had tested positive for the virus.”
The below screen shots were taken during a Wednesday night FLCCC update, showing the decline of Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh.
